The Kimono Wine and Grill is a delight for anyone looking for high-quality cuisine and wine in comfortable surroundings – right in the heart of Tokyo.

The restaurant describes itself as a "Euro-Fusion Bistro" and the quality of the dishes was superb. There is a variety of meat and vegetable dishes to choose from on the menu, which varies slightly by season.

The appetizers include the Kimono Grill's homemade corn tortilla chips and salsa, Greek salad, Decadent "5-Cheese" Macaroni and Cheese, Thai Lime and Lemongrass Beef Salad and Smoked Pork Rib Quesadillas among many other wonderful options.

The main dishes are all reasonably priced at under 2,000 yen per plate. Some choices on my last visit were Cajun-spiced fish with black beans and rice, paprika rubbed grilled lamb chop with smoked tomato couscous, and sweet potato ravioli with fresh tomatoes, capers and balsamic dressing.

For dessert, the choices are all 840 yen and included homemade ice-creams or sorbet with fresh fruit, apple crumble, Mississippi Mud Cake and Retro-Banana Pudding.

All of the food and service was absolutely top-notch. It is a fantastic choice for a special lunch or dinner and would be my choice for a birthday celebration to remember or even a fancy business dinner that would really impress. There is limited seating of around 20 at a time, so make sure you book in advance to secure space.

I haven't had the pleasure, but the Kimono Wine and Grill is one of the few places in all of Japan that offers an impressive Sunday brunch each week. It's not your usual continental breakfast spread either, there are swordfish burgers, Tex-Mex dishes, eggs benedict, pancakes and many more options, what a treat!

The owners are long-term international residents of Japan who are passionate about good food and wine. The owner, Lauren, hosts regular wine dinner parties and is also working on a catering company "To the Moon and Back". One of the main chefs runs a BBQ truck in and around the Tokyo area: Bulldog Barbeque (Stew style BBQ, not just stuff cooking on a grill).
