Yasunari Ikenaga Exhibition: Shonen Sho 2021

Contemporary bijin-ga at this limited-time event

Venue: Ginza Tsutaya When: Sep 25th - Oct 15th 2021

For a limited time, Ginza Tsutaya will be hosting an exhibition of works from contemporary bijin-ga (literally "beautiful person picture") artist Yasunari Ikenaga - with a twist. This event is titled "Shonen Sho", and it centers on art depicting the model and actor Sho, who has amassed almost 400,000 followers on Instagram.

Along with the modern bijin-ga depictions of Sho, there will be several other examples of Ikenaga's work on display. A number of these will be available for purchase either in-person at the venue or online at the official website here.

Admission to the exhibition is free of charge.

Getting there

The Ginza Tsutaya store can be accessed within five minutes on foot from Ginza Station, which is served by the Tokyo Metro Ginza, Hanzomon, and Marunouchi lines, or around the same distance from Higashi Ginza Station, which is served by the Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line and the Toei Asakusa Line.

Sho's gorgeous, and so beautifully captured in timeless style. Wow!

It's such a cool mix of traditional and modern, I think it's a fun way to get the younger generation interested in this traditional art form!
