Held in January each year, the Ishigaki Island Marathon serves several purposes. Naturally, there's the component that challenges the stamina and endurance of the participants, but the event is also designed to help promote sports tourism to this beautiful part of Japan.
The lineup includes not only a full marathon course (42.195km), but a half marathon (21km) and 10 kilometer routes as well, so don't be deterred if you're not quite at full marathon capacity just yet!
Applications for the event can be submitted between September 1st and October 31st, with more details to be posted on the official event website closer to the date.
