Near Atsuta-jingu shrine in southern Nagoya, Shirotori Garden is a beautiful traditional Japanese garden, with paths running around the banks of streams and ponds. Spacious and tranquil, the ponds and streams are connected by bridges and surrounded by immaculately tended trees and shrubs, which are reflected in the water. It's a wonderful place to escape the bustle of the city for an hour or two, and just stroll around at a leisurely pace, taking in the scenery and the restful atmosphere.

Shirotori Garden
A beautiful traditional garden in Nagoya

The reflections on a still day are lovely
Carp live in the ponds
One of the garden's ponds
Straight ahead over the pond
This stream runs down to the pond
Trees line up here along the water
Peaceful as can be
Green is all around
There are small falls along that stream
Lichen grows slowly on the rocks
One of the tearooms
A fountain by the tearoom
Handsome bridges span the channels between ponds
Peaceful greenery and water
Late afternoon reflection
Watch the sky in the water
