Tsunashiki Tenmangu is an expansive shrine complex with its northern entrance facing onto a beach on the Seto Inland Sea. The grounds of the shrine encompass a forest of pines and an orchard of plum trees that blossom in a profusion of pink and white in late February. The shrine has a wealth of interesting statuary.

A general view of Tsunashiki Tenmangu Shrine, Imabari
The shrine has expansive grounds, which includes an orchard of plum trees that flowers in late February. It's still very cold, but people picnic under the trees
The grounds also include masses of pine trees, which release an intoxicating scent in summer
These plum blossoms aren't at their peak yet, but they make a fine show against the backdrop of pine
Tsunashiki Tenmangu Shrine has stone lions...
... a metal cow ...
... a wooden dragon ...
... more stone lions ...
... and a really big stone brush. People visit the shrine to offer their used brushes to the gods
This monument is to those who died in the first Sino-Japanese war
Near the southern entrance is a fine old plaster storehouse
It has a striking cherry blossom motif on its doors.
