When most cherry blossoms fell to the ground in Fukui City and people are feeling sad, there is one last place we can visit to further enjoy beautiful cherry blossoms. Located easternmost part of Sakai City in Fukui prefecture, mountainous Takeda Village is famous for its beautiful weeping cherry trees. In mid April each year when cherry blossom season is almost over, the gorgeous cherry trees in 'Takekurabe Park' will be in full bloom. They hold a Sakura Festival for two weeks, and despite its rural location many people visit here to enjoy lovely cherry blossoms cascading softly to the ground. It is about 50 minutes car drive from the center of Fukui City.

Gorgeous pink weeping cherry blossoms cascading down to the ground

This is the 'Takekurabe Park' in Takeda, Fukui. Takekurabe literally means comparing statures, but the name comes from the mountain nearby that has a same name.

Even during the cherry blossom festival, visitors were sparse on weekdays.
