A giant rubber duck is floating at Onomichi port, during Umi Festa being held in Onomichi, Mihara and Fukuyama simultaneously. The almost 10 meters tall, world traveling yellow duck is a creation of a Dutch artist, Florentijn Hofman. It previously appeared in Osaka and is now enjoying its first sea bathing in Japan. It is illuminated from sunset to 10 pm and being exhibited until July 29th. Enjoy a spectacular view of fireworks at the back of the ducky on Saturday night, July 28th.

This reminds me of the painting, rubber duck and iris in the Art Gallery of NSW. Taro Yamamoto, the inventor of Nipponga art, loves this kind of humor, which he uses from the tradition of kaigyaku.
