For incredible views of Mt. Fuji, take this ropeway to the top of Mt. Komagatake, Hakone's highest mountain. On a clear day, the view includes the Izu Islands, Lake Ashinoko, the coastline of Japan, and a breathtaking Fuji-san. The 'Hakone Free Pass' includes another ropeway that takes you to Owakudani. If you drive or do not purchase the pass, I highly recommend this ropeway. In addition to stunning views, there is a small shrine and great hiking trails. Weather is extremely important. Don't go if you can't see the top of the mountain from the bottom.

Lovely photos, Sandra. When I went there last April, it rained so I could not see much from the ropeway or from Lake Ashi.
The ropeway is easily accessible by car or mass transportation. Just take a bus bound for Hakone-en or the Hakone Prince Hotel, or take a taxi from Togendai or Moto Hakone. There is a cruise boat that stops in Hakone-en too (the cruise boat that is not included in the 'Hakone Free Pass').

Beautiful pictures! Is there no way to access this ropeway by public transportation?
