Maizuru

Maizuru is a port city in northern Kyoto along the coast of the Sea of Japan. It can be reached in just 2 hours from the central Kyoto City, where most visitors to Kyoto converge. The city is known as the home port of Admiral/naval commander Heihachiro Togo, with the Maizuru Naval Museum documenting the history of the naval significance of the area.
