The Arita Porcelain Park gives visitors to Saga a small taste of Germany with its European-themed architecture and its on-site beer factory. The main site within this pseudo theme park is a recreation of the Zwinger Palace from Dresden, another city noted for its production of fine porcelain. Plenty of opportunities exist to tour the attraction with one's tastebuds, including sake samples in the main park store and one of only five restaurants in town that offers the Arita-yaki Gozen set meal, featuring locally-raised chicken prepared in multiple ways. Visitors can also participate in a porcelain-making experience on-site for a small fee.

I'm visiting here in October - the porcelain making experience is something I'm definitely interested in! Do you know if I need to reserve it beforehand, or if it's something I can just turn up and do?
There are a few places in Arita to either make or paint your own porcelain. I've found in general in Japan that it never HURTS to have a reservation, but the two times I've actually painted porcelain in Arita, I didn't reserve.

Good to know! I'll see if I can get my husband to check in advance and reserve something - he speaks much better Japanese than I do! :) Thanks again for your kindness and your help!!
