Atami Plum Garden Plum Festival 2025

Enjoy early-blooming plum blossoms in Shizuoka

Venue: Atami Plum Garden, Shizuoka When: Early Jan - Early Mar 2025

The Atami Plum Garden in Shizuoka is home to some of Japan's earliest blooming plum tree varieties. The annual plum festival held here showcases close to 500 plum trees in 59 different varieties, and along with the early blooming trees there are mid-blooming and late-blooming types. Getting there

The Atami Plum Garden is located 10 minutes on foot from JR Kinomiya Station, served by the Ito Line, or a 10 minute taxi ride from JR Atami Station, served by the Tokaido Shinkansen, the Tokaido Main Line, and the Ito Line.

The official site says there is parking for passenger cars at Umezono-mae and it's charged at 600 yen for regular passenger vehicles. Hope that helps!

It must be wonderful! I had the idea of visiting Japan in that period, but I prefer when it's warmer.

In 2012 I've visited my friends who live in a countryside near Matsumoto. It was the end of March and the weather was quite cold, plus it was absolutely freezing cold at their home! We have central heating from October to middle May, so that cold house I couldn't stand! I can't understand why not to warm a house when it's so cold?
