Looking for a place to cool down in the middle of the summer? Located at 1478m above sea level, lake Yunoko in Oku-Nikko is the perfect retreat. Catch and release fishing is probably the most popular activity amongst the local Japanese; however, it's just a fantastic spot for everyone to indulge in nature and enjoy the reasonable temperatures (around 24°C) in summer.

Thank you Terrie. In fact, they don't get to keep and eat any of the fish they catch, the rules are very strict; doesn't surprise though, we're in Japan :-))

Wonderful photos Nicole. Hard to believe that in the middle of summer there is somewhere in Japan below 30 degrees! Sounds like the place to be this coming August. You mentioned catch-and-release fishing -- so they don't get to keep and eat at least some of what they catch?
