Walk through the past and experience tradition

The Edo-Tokyo Museum is a fantastic building which houses life-size replicas of buildings, machines and other historical pieces from the Edo period of history, through the Meiji era and up to modern times. You can see how people lived back then, including the way the houses and castles were built. There are also tools and various daily utensils used throughout history, some replicas and some real ones as well. Step back in time and enjoy the deep and rich cultural history of Japan for one day and you will be amazed at the speed of progress and improved quality of life. This museum is great for couples and for families and it's fun for everyone!

I was born in Bucharest, Romania and after a brief stay in London, England I settled and lived in Toronto, Canada for 20 years. I moved to Tokyo in late 2013 and have lived here ever since. I enjoy exploring the city with my camera as well as going to many special events that Tokyo has to offer every year. There are so many incredible things and places to see in this country and they all need to be enjoyed and documented as well as shared with the world.
