Minamisawa Hydrangea Mountain Festival

Enjoy thousands of hydrangeas in bloom in Tokyo

The Minamisawa Hydrangea Mountain can be found in Akiruno, and each year from mid-June to early July a festival is held to celebrate thousands of flowers in bloom. The hydrangeas here have all been planted by one man - Mr. Chuichi Minamisawa - who originally started his endeavor with just 20 hydrangea seedlings. This has expanded now to around 10,000 plants and the creation of a popular tourist destination.

The entrance fee to the mountain during hydrangea season is 500 yen for adults and 300 yen for children.

Getting there

The Minamisawa Hydrangea Mountain is located around 40 minutes on foot from Musashi Itsukaichi Station, which is served by the JR Itsukaichi Line.

For those who opt to drive, the venue is around 30 minutes from the Akiruno IC on the Ken-o Expressway, or just under 40 minutes from the Hachioji IC on the Chuo Expressway.

Paid on-site parking is available at a price of 800 yen per regular vehicle.
