Real-Size Gundam in Odaiba

Diver City Tokyo Plaza, Yurikamome Line

A robot standing in front of Diver City Tokyo Plaza in Odaiba is a real-size model of a robot weapon in the popular animation series, “Mobile Suit Gundam.” It was broadcast on TV here in Japan in 1979, and then was featured in many movies. The main character uses the robot to win battles in a war. This Gundam stands under the sky, showing its huge, cool, and powerful body (it's 18 meters high, and a whopping 43.4 tons). Boys from that time have become fathers now, and they get excited to see this real-size Gundam with their children. Actually, they look happier than their children!

Japan is a small island nation, but we have a huge number of surprising things to discover here. Many of these delights can be found when you step off the main street onto small side paths. I really enjoy studying about and researching various aspects of traditional Japanese culture, and then sharing this information with visitors to Japan. I hope you will enjoy it, too! ARTICLE INDEX & PHOTOS:  An index of most of my Japan Travel articles can be found at the entry page of my blog, and my photos are shown here.
