If you are interested in trying Japanese wine, Akafuji Wine Cellar in Fujikawaguchiko is a good place to go. They have a wide range of both red and white locally produced Yamanashi wines. Japanese wine tends to be a bit sweet for many foreigners, and while most of the wines I tried were sweet, there were one or two that were on the dry side. Before you leave, the friendly staff will probably serve you tea and raisins, and you can pose for photos with the statue at the entrance, and also with the stacked wine barrels.
