The people’s forest and flower park in Imabari is something of a throwback to the 1980s. It’s a public park within earshot of some major highways, and it has the unmistakable look of a municipal facility. Nevertheless, people continue to visit it for the flowers and wildlife that inhabit the park, and it does have a couple of exciting slides for children.

These harmless hoverflies are much in evidence, drawn by the scent of the flowers
This large concrete water-feature has a slightly mad aspect which children seem to enjoy
The amphitheatre at the people's park doesn't seem to get much use anymore
Each season brings a different selection of flowers
The Shimin no Mori is on a hill, and one side has old-growth forest and bamboo
A Japanese gecko hides in a broken lamp
The children's slides are good value
Near the car park you can get ice cream, and various fried treats
There's a large central pond with koi carp and turtles
In spring, the wisteria are pretty. The bowers positively hum with insects
In the warm weather, there are lizards everywhere
The park has peonies in many colours
Even when they go over, peonies are an interesting sight

I have been there since I was a child. Especially, cherry brossam for spring and greenery for summer are nice.
