Tranquility of glass & metal between Tokyo & Yurakucho
Featured
Formerly occupied by Tokyo City Hall, Tokyo Forum is situated across Yurakucho station and connected directly to Tokyo Station. Serving as one of the city’s major cultural centers, the venue houses everything from concerts to international conferences of mass scales. In Oct 2014 it hosts the International Bar Association congress, while in 2010 it is the venue for Weightlifting in the Summer Olympics.
This masterpiece is designed by American architect, Rafael Viñoly in 1997. On any given day you will find a sloth of photography enthusiasts clicking away. Bathed in tranquility and warm sunlight, the structure is pleasantly calm and inviting despite the almost cage-like exterior. Inside you will also find galleries alongside shops and restaurants. Apart from the museum itself, an eclectic roster of art exhibits are on display all year around between various parts of the complex. Oh, and hey did I mention free high-speed Wi-Fi internet in the lobby?
