Spectacular views at the largest dam in Japan

From June 26 to October 15 every year, the dam discharges water at over 10–15 tons per second. You can see this great fall of water from various viewpoints such as the Dam Lookout Deck and Rainbow Terrace.

Latest on Kurobe Dam

Kurobe Dam, at a height of 186 meters, is the tallest and largest dam in Japan. Discharging water at a rate of more than ten tonnes per second, it is definitely a sight not to be missed. Kurobe Dam can be viewed from a variety of spots, but this year, a new observatory provides a great close-up view. Built at an altitude of 1508 meters, it provides a direct view of the water discharge. There is also a photo service. For a fee, you can have your photo taken against the background of the dam by a remote camera on a hill.

Water Discharge Timings (may be cancelled due to weather conditions): 6/26 - 7/31: 6:00 - 17:30 8/1 - 9/10: 6:30 - 17:00 9/11 - 10/15: 7:00 - 16:30
