Chiba Station Opens After Remodel

JR Station gets new look, shopping area, restaurants

The remodeled JR Chiba Station area has a new look and tons of new shops and restaurants after its grand opening on Nov. 20.

The station in Chiba City, Chiba Prefecture, has been under construction in some capacity for more than 5 years, according press releases on the JR East Railway Website. While the station has a new upstairs, it still seems to be under construction underground. So, in the remodeled station area, you now can access all exits/transfers by going up stairs.

Among the highlights are more than 40 shops/food stalls, including ramen shops, a drugs store, a traditional sushi shop, coffee shops, cafes and a spacious Perie market in the middle of all of it. Perie has many shops at stations around Chiba, including Kaihinmakuhari, Inage and more.

General in-station store hours are from Monday to Saturday from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday/holidays from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. However, some times vary by shop. Information is according to a press release from the Perie website.
