Photographer's Paradise (Part 2)

Flowers are a photography favourite

It is no secret that the Japanese admire flowers. The chrysanthemum flower is the symbol of Japan while the sakura cherry blossoms appear everywhere, even on Japan's 100 yen coin.

I’ve never seen so many flowers blooming as in Japan. Growing - and grown - everywhere, there are scores flower parks for visitors to enjoy. I very much enjoyed my visits to Ashikaga Flower Park and Hamamatsu Flower Park. During the spring, these gardens appear like gardens of paradise. They are truly stunning. Outside of spring, even in the colder months, you can find many exotic flowers like orchids and water lilies growing in greenhouses.

Of course, the most famous of flower seasons is spring with the blooming sakura cherry blossoms. It is a tradition in Japan to enjoy hanami cherry blossom viewing parties. Beautiful during the day, they become absolutely gorgeous with night illumination.

Japan and its flowers are a photographer's heaven. Please enjoy them the next time you visit.
