Takashi Murakami Flower Gallery Stay at Grand Hyatt Tokyo

Get up close and personal with work from an art world superstar

It's not often you have the opportunity to see, interact with, and spend time in a space that has been designed by one of the most famous artists in the world. Until June 1, Grand Hyatt Tokyo is giving people the chance to reserve a stunning suite that is full of work by seminal Japanese contemporary artist, Takashi Murakami.

With just one reservation per day, guests can spend the night in a Murakami art gallery featuring 14 pieces of art, including a 195-cm golden "Flower and Child" sculpture. The stay also includes a host of other goodies such as an in-room dinner, sweets inspired by Murakami's "Flower" works, and an autographed book.

The curated suite and complete stay package is the first of its kind in Japan and produced by Murakami himself with artwork created for this collaboration with Grand Hyatt Tokyo.

Murakami notes, “When I started to travel around the world and stay at hotels, I remember there were always artworks exhibited from the entrance leading up to each room when I stayed at Hyatt hotels and I thought, ‘Oh, there is a need for art in this context.’ It was different from the context of art that I was creating, so I was fascinated. I wanted to try and enter such a world once, but I couldn't find the entrance, and there was just no way in, so I am happy to have such a special opportunity to display my work in a hotel room, and make my long-time dream come true.”
