Yokote Kamakura Festival

Every February, Akita's Yokote transforms into a fairytale landscape dotted with igloo-like structures in a festival dating back 400 years.

Kakunodate Sakura Festival

The sakura or cherry blossom festival celebrates the arrival of spring and the cherry blossoms in the Samurai town of Kakunodate. Along the riverbank there is an avenue of over 150 cherry trees, which you can stroll over 2 kilometres.

Akita Kanto Festival

The Kanto Matsuri is also known as the pole lantern festival. It is a Tanabata related celebration in Akita City held annually from August 3rd to 6th.
